Ocean Freaks World grew out of one thing – time in the water. Since 2008, we have been surfing Las Américas, learning its breaks, and teaching the way we would have wanted to be taught ourselves. No script. No padding. Just honest progression in the ocean.
Why Tenerife
The Canary Islands catch Atlantic swell year-round. Water temperature stays between 19°C and 24°C every month. The conditions are consistent, the sun is reliable, and there is almost always something to surf. For learning, that consistency is everything – progress in surfing comes from repetition, and Tenerife gives you the days to build it.
Why Las Américas
Las Américas works unusually well for learning – accessible for beginners, varied enough for real progression, and consistent enough to plan around. Andrés grew up on these breaks. Juri has been reading this coastline since 2008. That local knowledge shapes every session we run.

Deme reads people as well as he reads waves. Experienced, calm, and quietly attentive – he notices when you’re nervous before you say it, and adjusts without making it a thing.
Dimitrii has a natural way with people of all ages – kids especially love his lessons. He keeps the energy light, the progress real, and nobody feels left behind.
Surfer, yoga teacher, and the heart of our operations. Mari’s Saturday yoga classes are built around what the body needs for surfing. She also makes sure everything runs smoothly before you even arrive.
Something happens to people in the ocean
Someone arrives unsure. They stand up for the first time – even for two seconds – and something shifts. It is not really about surfing. It is about doing something your body was not sure it could do. People come for a lesson. They leave with something harder to name. We have watched it happen hundreds of times. It is still the reason we show up.
More than surf lessons in Tenerife
Surfskate sessions on flat days. Saturday yoga with Mari – built specifically around what the body needs for surfing: mobility, balance, and recovery. SUP and eFoil experiences for those who want to go further into ocean sports. And our Surf Café right on site for after the session – coffee, food, and time to come down from the stoke.
