Are reef boots included in the rental price, and why are they necessary here?

Reef shoes are included with wetsuit rental. At El Medio, the reef is shallow at low tide – shoes protect your feet on entry and exit. We recommend them for all levels. If you are renting a board only, shoes can be added for a small fee. Ask at the desk.

Can I swap my board during the day if wave conditions change?

Yes. If the swell picks up or drops and your board no longer suits the conditions, come back and we will swap it. That is part of real local knowledge. We follow the forecast closely and will often suggest a change before you even ask.

Do you offer roof racks or pads for board transport?

We do not rent roof racks, but we can advise you on the best local options. For shorter trips, a good surf sock and a careful back-seat setup work well for most boards in our fleet. Ask us before you go.

Do you provide surfboard insurance or a damage waiver for rentals?

Minor dings from normal use are covered. Serious damage caused by negligent use is not. Before you go out, we check the board with you and note any existing marks or damage. No surprises when you return.

How do you ensure your wetsuits are clean and hygienic?

Every wetsuit is rinsed with fresh water and treated with wetsuit cleaner after each use. Each one is then hung to dry completely before the next rental. If anything does not meet our standard on the day, we replace it immediately.

How to choose the right surfboard for reef breaks in the Las Americas?

Our team will find the perfect board for you on site. Based on your height, weight, and experience, we’ll match the spot selection and the day’s weather forecast to your board. El Medio is a stable reef break that’s best suited for beginners with larger boards, while experienced surfers will appreciate shorter, medium-volume boards. We’ve been surfing here since 2008. You won’t leave with the wrong board.

Is it possible to rent a surfboard for a week and take it to the north of Tenerife?

Yes. Our Open Rental weekly packages are designed exactly for that. Softboards start from 80€ per week and hardboards from 100€ per week. Take the board wherever the forecast takes you and simply return it in the same condition.

What identification or deposit do I need for the rental?

You need a valid ID or passport, plus a refundable deposit depending on the type of board. We keep the process simple, with no long paperwork. It usually takes about two minutes at the desk.

What is the difference between a 'Session' and a 'Full Day' rental at Ocean Freaks World?

A Session covers 2–3 hours – one surf window. A Full Day gives you the board from opening until close, so you can surf the morning glass, rest, and catch the afternoon shift. If you plan to surf twice in a day, Full Day is always a better value.
