Ocean Freaks World brings together a surf school, board rental, eFoil and a café in Las Américas, Tenerife. Our story began in Venezuela in 2008. Meet the people who make our little corner of the ocean feel personal.

FROM EXPERIENCE TO A SHARED PLACE
Different journeys.
One connection to the ocean.
Ocean Freaks began with one person’s experience and grew with a team of experienced riders, each bringing something of their own. What connects us is a love of the ocean and the pleasure of sharing it.
Juri began teaching in 2007. The first school followed in Venezuela in 2008, before a new chapter began in Tenerife in 2011. Since 2015, Las Américas has been our permanent base.
Along the way, new people brought new ideas, friendships and ways of riding. Our shared love of the ocean grew into something that reaches beyond a session: a place to learn, gather and feel welcome.

A rider across surf, kite, SUP and foil, Juri brings a broad view of the ocean to Ocean Freaks. Sharing that experience with others is at the heart of the school he founded and the team around him.

Our ISA-certified instructors bring their own riding experience to every session. We take time to listen, understand where you are starting from and explain things clearly, whether you are finding your feet or building on skills you already have.

Waves, tides and weather change. We assess the conditions and choose an approach suited to the people in the water, rather than promise the same experience every day.

We explain, watch and offer practical feedback, with room for questions and another try. We want you to leave with a clearer sense of what to work on next.

Awareness, surf etiquette and knowing your limits belong alongside technique. Sharing the water responsibly is part of learning.
ROOTED IN LAS AMÉRICAS
A place to return to.
Not just pass through.
Ocean Freaks began with time in the ocean — and grew into a place to share everything around it.
In 2022, we opened Ocean Freaks Café at our base in Las Américas. We brought the same care to the table: coffee roasted here in Tenerife, thoughtfully chosen ingredients, and balanced options for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.
Before a lesson, after a rental session or after a surf on your own, it’s a place to refuel, slow down and spend time with friends, family and people who share your love of the ocean.
Surf school, rental, eFoil and café — different ways to enjoy the same place, brought together by the same people.
You don’t have to surf to feel at home here.

Frequently asked questions
Is Ocean Freaks only for first-time surfers?
No. Our team works with people discovering surfing and riders developing their technique. Visit our surf lessons page to find an option that fits your experience.
Which languages does the team speak?
Across the team, we speak Spanish, English, German and Russian. Individual languages are listed above. If you need a particular language for your lesson, ask us before booking.
Can I visit without taking a lesson?
Yes. You are welcome to visit our base and café, ask about equipment or get to know the place. School and rental hours are 08:00–21:00. The café opens at 08:30 and closes at 21:30; the kitchen closes at 21:00.
