What to expect from your surf lesson in Tenerife.
Whether you’re getting started or refining your technique, your session begins with where you are now and what you want to work on.
Settle in & feel welcome
Arrive around 15 minutes early, meet your instructor and tell us what you’re hoping for — or feeling unsure about. There’s room for your questions before you begin.
Prepare for the water
Work through movements suited to your level on land, then put them into practice in the ocean.
Learn together, progress your way
Head into the water with your instructor’s support and feedback. In a group lesson, you’ll share the experience with fellow learners — while working on your own next step. There’s no need to compete or get everything right.
Leave with a next step
Take a moment after the session to talk through what you’ve learned and ask anything that’s still unclear. Leave knowing what to keep practising.

We’re directly opposite El Medio, the main surf teaching spot in south Tenerife. Before heading out, your instructor helps you understand the conditions and what they mean for your session.
Keep progressing at your own pace.
Ready to practise independently? Hire surf equipment and keep building your skills. Already an experienced surfer? You’re welcome too. Before heading out or after your session, ask our team questions, share how it went and get pointers for your next surf.
Back at the club, there’s space to practise, ask questions and unwind. A spacious teaching area, a relaxed lounge and Ocean Freaks Café make time before and after surfing part of the experience — including for the people joining you.
When weather and ocean conditions are suitable, you can also learn to ride an eFoil with us.
BEFORE YOUR SESSION
Frequently asked questions
Is surfing suitable for complete beginners?
Yes — you don’t need any surfing experience. We’ll explain the basics and practise on land before heading into the water. You’ll learn step by step, with guidance and feedback from your instructor.
Do I need to be able to swim? What if I’m nervous?
You need to be able to keep yourself afloat for a standard lesson. Feeling nervous is normal — let us know before you book so we can discuss your concerns. If you need additional support or an adapted session, please contact our team to discuss a suitable format.
Can children join a surf lesson?
Our standard group lessons are for ages 14 and over. For children aged 6–13, choose a private or family session. Exceptions to the group age guideline may be considered individually, but must be agreed with our team before booking.
What’s included, and what should I bring?
Your lesson includes surf equipment and insurance. Bring swimwear, a towel, drinking water and sun protection. We’ll help you get ready before heading to the ocean.
What languages are the lessons taught in?
English and Spanish are our main teaching languages. We also offer lessons in Russian. Other languages may be available depending on the instructor. If you need a particular language, please confirm with us before booking — the website language does not automatically determine your lesson language.
When should I arrive, and how long is the lesson?
Please arrive around 15 minutes before your session. Group and family sessions last 2 hours; one-to-one private lessons last 2.5 hours. You’re welcome to come earlier and enjoy our café and lounge — including anyone coming along with you.
What happens if ocean conditions aren’t suitable?
If we cancel your lesson because of ocean conditions, you can choose to reschedule or receive a full refund for the cancelled lesson. You don’t have to accept a new date if it doesn’t fit your plans.
Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?
You can cancel free of charge at least 24 hours before your lesson. For a change of date, contact us as early as possible; requests made closer to the session are considered individually.
For the three-lesson pack, if you stop after your first lesson and give at least 24 hours’ notice before the next booked session, the completed lesson is charged at the single-lesson price of €49. From a €117 pack, the refund is €68.
