Local coaches, real ocean experience, and a calm teaching approach built for confidence in Tenerife.
· ISA-certified since 2008 ·
We teach the way we wish we had been taught ourselves.
Since 2008, our team has surfed and taught in Las Américas, turning first-day nerves into real confidence in the water. At Ocean Freaks World, our surf school Las Américas, is built on hands-on experience, local timing, and a teaching style that helps people feel calm, clear, and supported from the start.
Why Tenerife gives beginners a better chance to progress
Most surf destinations force beginners to gamble on timing. Tenerife does not. Consistent swell, warm water, and stable weather give you more real chances to repeat, improve, and leave with progress instead of just trying once. The Atlantic delivers waves to the Canary Islands year-round, with water staying between 19°C and 24°C every month. No thick wetsuits, no cold shock, no waiting for the right season. Just more time in the water – which is exactly what learning to surf actually requires.
Surf School Las Américas: why this coastline feels different with local coaches
Las Américas is not only about good waves. It is about knowing when they work, where they work, and what fits your level that day. That local timing turns a random lesson into a well-guided first experience. This is where our surf school Las Américas becomes more than just a location. It becomes a better decision.

Surfer, yoga teacher, and the heart of our operations. Mari’s Saturday yoga classes are built around what the body needs for surfing. She also makes sure everything runs smoothly before you even arrive. Best for mobility, recovery, and pre-surf calm.
It starts as a basic lesson. It ends as something bigger.
People arrive unsure. Then they stand up, even for a moment, and something changes. Not because surfing is magic. Because the body stops waiting for permission. From the outside, that first wave looks small. From the inside, it feels much bigger.
Progress does not stop when the waves do.
Flat day does not mean lost day. Our instructors also help students improve through surfskate, Saturday yoga with Mari, and other ocean-based activities that build balance, mobility, recovery, and body control. The lesson is never only in the water. And our Surf Café right on site for after the session – coffee, food, and time to come down from the stoke. Everything in one place, two minutes from the ocean in Las Américas, Tenerife.
