eFoil Lessons Tenerife

An eFoil is an electric hydrofoil board – a surfboard with a battery-powered motor and an underwater wing that lifts you above the water as you gain speed. You control the throttle with a handheld remote. No waves, no wind, no paddling required.

For a total beginner, the learning curve is faster than most people expect. 95% of first-time students fly above the water in their very first session. We start with a land briefing, then move to the water step by step. Most people are gliding within the first 20–30 minutes.

No. Board sports experience helps with balance, but it is not required. Even without any prior experience, most people ride in under an hour. If you surf, you will progress faster – but we have taught complete beginners, older riders, and people with no water sports experience at all. What matters is the willingness to try and a basic level of fitness.

eFoiling is one of the safest water sports for beginners. The board has a built-in safety sensor — if you fall and the board tips too far, the motor cuts off automatically. We provide a helmet and impact vest for every session. Lessons take place in the calm, sheltered waters of the south of Tenerife. Falls are soft, slow, and part of the process – not something to fear.

Minimum age is 14 years old. Riders under 18 require a parent or guardian present at the session. The weight limit for most standard eFoil models is up to 100 kilograms. If you are close to this limit, contact us before booking – we will advise on the right board setup for you.

We offer 60-minute and 90-minute sessions. A 60-minute session includes a land briefing of around 10–15 minutes, followed by 45+ minutes in the water. The 90-minute session gives you significantly more riding time and is recommended if you want to reach stable flight and start controlling your direction. Most people find the 90-minute format more satisfying — the last 30 minutes are where it really starts to click.

You should be comfortable in the water and able to swim, but you do not need to be an athlete. A properly fitted impact vest keeps you afloat after a fall regardless of swimming ability. Sessions take place in calm, shallow water close to shore. You will never be far from your instructor. If you have any concerns, mention them at booking, and we will talk you through the setup.

The eFoil automatically reduces power if the battery runs low, allowing you to return to shore safely. In practice, our sessions are planned around battery capacity – a 60-minute session uses roughly 60–70% of a full charge under normal conditions. We monitor battery levels throughout and will always bring you in with plenty of power to spare.

We do not offer a fixed photo or video package, but it is easy to sort. If you are coming with a friend or partner, ask them to film from the beach – the spot is compact, and the shot is always good. If you are coming solo, let us know at booking, and we will do our best to help you capture the moment. An action camera or phone on a small tripod works perfectly.

eFoiling needs flat water, light wind, no swell, and good visibility. The south of Tenerife delivers this most of the year, but the weather always has the final say. Once we receive your request, we check the forecast and pick the best spot for your session: Las Américas, Los Cristianos, or El Médano. Morning slots are usually the smoothest before the trade winds arrive. If conditions change, we will reach out and find another time.
